Pond Dipping and Minibeast Hunts

In this tutor led session learners will explore the rich diversity of living things and develop an understanding of how these organisms are interrelated.

We will start with an introduction to the groups of animals, with a focus on minibeasts, learn how to safely catch them, then get hands-on finding, classifying, and identifying minibeasts. Depending on the season, or your topic of interest we can either hunt for minibeasts in our woods or get pond dipping to catch minibeasts, amphibians and fish in our pond.

This session is designed to reinforce and complement the Curriculum for Excellence, and depending on your classes level will focus on either SCN 0-01a, SCN 1-01a or SCN 2-01a and SCN 2-14a. If there are particular themes you would like to emphasise, please let us know on the booking form, or arrange a chat with our Education Team.
