Sit and relax under a vine in this glasshouse and breathe in the sweet aromas of the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean plant collection shows the diversity of the six geographical areas of the Mediterranean climate. These include the Mediterranean, California, Central Chile, Cape Province South Africa and south-west and south-east tips of Australia. These plants have adapted to hot dry summers, cool moist winters, dazzling sunlight, strong breezes and rocky landscapes.

A prominent feature is found at one end of the glasshouse - a ceramic panel named 'Homage to Paxton' created by local artist and sculptor, Anne Lightwood, who was a keen supporter of the Friends of the Botanic Garden.
