Boiler House Retrofit Project

July 2022

We are pleased to share the next phase of our retrofit programme for the Botanic Garden’s buildings. The Boiler House is a striking building that is need of a new purpose and some TLC: if we can refresh the building’s façade, install insulation and open up the spaces inside, we can create a much-needed and beautiful space for education and group activities. At the moment, all of our education work takes place in a converted glasshouse which is cold in the winter and hot in the summer – it will be a gamechanger for the Garden to have a place that is designed for humans!

With initial plans prepared by Collective Architecture, we are tendering for a team who can develop the project, and will share the project’s journey with regular updates in the Garden Notebook. Fife Environment Trust have provided initial financial support for the project and we are hoping to raise additional support to bring this project to life over the coming months. If you would like to be a part of this exciting project, please get in touch with the Garden team at info@standrewsbotanic.org.
