Alpine and Woodland Supervisor
As the Alpine and Woodland Supervisor at St Andrews Botanic Garden, Sarah has responsibility for managing the Rock Garden, Woodland and Pinetum, and the Alpine Display House. She is passionate about all things Alpine (and sub-alpine!), and has worked and travelled in the Swiss Alps, China’s Yunnan mountain ranges, and the Russian Altai.
She began her horticultural career in 2004, working as a gardener in Brighton. In 2013 she graduated with a first class honours degree in Horticulture with Plantsmanship (BSc) from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE). It was during her time at RBGE that she discovered a love for Alpine plants and went on to work as part of the Alpine Team at RHS Garden Wisley. She is now delighted to be part of the team at St Andrews Botanic Garden and is looking forward to developing the botanical collections.
Systematic and Display Supervisor
After completing traineeships at both Cambridge University Botanic Garden and RHS Rosemoor, Beccy graduated from the three year Royal Botanic Garden BG Kew Diploma Horticulture in 2013 with distinction.
Moving from one extreme of the UK to the other, she then worked at the National Trust for Scotland at Inverewe in the north-west Highlands. Here, voted the UKs favourite Garden of 2017, she managed the high profile Walled Garden, delivering displays year round and supervising trainees and interns.
She joined the staff at St Andrews Botanic Garden in December 2016, where she looks after the Systematic and Display collections.
