Garden Masterclasses


Join us for a practical behind the scenes view of the methods and approaches used by St Andrews Botanic Garden Urban Community Farm in its vegetable seed sowing and establishment. Drawing from the best practice of leading contemporary organic market gardeners, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their theoretical and practical skills during this course. Suitable for both home gardeners and more experienced growers.

Saturday 27 April – SUCCULENTS ON STRUCTURES – Sarah Carlton

Succulent plants have evolved and adapted to live in some of the harshest conditions in the world. In this workshop alpine plant expert will take you through the adaptations of these stunning plants, and how we can utilize their strengths for both urban greening, and home greening. Make your own succulent structure as Sarah shares tips and tricks to emulate these extreme conditions.

Saturday 25 May – VEGETABLE GROWING FOR THE SMALL GARDEN – Elliott Forsyth

Learn how to maximise your productivity when growing vegetables in a limited space. We will explore how to plan, identify the best vegetables to grow and improve our growing skills by employing a range of space-saving approaches and techniques. This course also explores soil fertility, high intensity crop scheduling, rotation, storage and includes practical planning and microgreens growing session.

10am – 3pm, Lunch provided

All materials and tools will be provided
